Visa Classes : 
The major visa subclasses are briefly described as follows:
Skilled - Independent
This category is for those applicants who possess a professional, technical or trade skills. The application is assessed through a Point Test based on occupation, professional qualification, work experience, age and English language skills. Bonus points can be awarded for some conditions such as occupations in demand in Australia, spouses skills and so on.
Pass mark is 120.
Skilled - Australian Sponsored
This category is similar to the Skilled - Independent subclass and for those applicants who possess professional, technical or trade skills, and also have a sponsor who fulfills the sponsors requirements.
Pass mark is 110.
Skilled - Independent Overseas Student
This category is similar to the Skilled - Independent subclass but specially designed for those overseas students who, within 6 months prior to application, have completed a degree, diploma or trade qualification for award by Australian institution after at least 2 years of full-time study.
Pass mark is 120
Distinquished Talent
People with special talents such as athletics who are recognised worldwide are eligible for this visa class.
